Okay, I admit it, this is a completely gratuitous posting.

The Shades Lenormand
Heart + Snake + Coffin + Rider + Moon
I just wanted to see what my cards would look like if spread as for a reading. This makes me wish I had the deck finished now, so I could print it for my own use! In an effort to keep this post from being completely gratuitous, I will interpret these cards as if they were for a real client, so you can see an example of one way to read them.
This spread would talk about something ending, since the Coffin is the central card.
The Snake is my problem card, and talks about something that has already happened which is causing things to come to an end; it must be dealt with.
The Rider is something happening, coming in quickly. The ending of the Coffin brings the Rider; and in turn, the Rider brings the card that follows him.
The Heart with the Snake is about problems with love. It looks like there was trouble in a relationship, and now that relationship is at a point where it must change, likely coming to an end.
The Rider is bringing the Moon, which tells me that new romance is on the way.
Overall, I believe this reading would show that an existing relationship and all of its problems have to be dealt with. Confront the issues! This isn’t going to be swept under the rug. Only then will the way be cleared for new romance.
A Lenormand reading really can be that straightforward and direct. It’s possible to start using all of the different pairs and mirroring, if more detail is needed, but I think the message is quite clear.
How would you read this line of five cards? Would you see a different message? Or add to what I read? Let me know in the comments!

visual effect or not?..I don’t know but watching these cards I had a strange feeling that I should read it from right to left like:untill the end of month, some drastic changes are approaching and a 3th party will involve in a romance and disturb it…honestly I use to read the cards from left to right but this time The Rider,The Coffin and even The Snake seem to threat the Heart

Wow kali! It’s neat that you had such a powerful effect from my cards, inspiring you to read the way you did! Thank you for sharing that.

I like the visual effect and your interpretation but I wish the Rider was facing the other way now (sorry!). Maybe that is why Kali is reading it from right to left?

Hi Helen,
I don’t mind your honesty.
Actually it’s trivial to flip the image.
I referenced a Dondorf deck to create that, but I see that I did reverse the image. And my favorite French Cartomancy deck is also facing to the right, I see.
The Lilac Twilight is quite popular now. Doesn’t that feature a woman facing to the left?
Perhaps I will do a future post and ask which direction people like better. I don’t think I have a strong preference here, as I will likely read the card the same in either case.
Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Also, regarding direction of Rider — he faces left on the Piatnik, I noticed. As the saying goes, horses for courses?
(You can groan. I did!)

Yes, I went and checked a few decks and I never noticed before how many face left. I look to see what the Rider is bringing (on the right) so if I have a choice he should face right.

Hey Jason
I would read it the way you did – big changes in a relationship at hand, and something new emotionally coming in…
I like your cards! Congratulations! I’ve been meaning to design a set for the longest time – maybe this is the summer of Photoshop for me! lol
Tarot Dame created a beautiful lenormand deck, The Sepia Lenormand.. have you seen it yet? it’s on my wish list
Hope things are going well with you!

Oh my gosh, spiritsong, where have you been! I was just referencing your blog to someone the other day. It’s great to hear from you! Is your computer working this summer?
Thank you for the kind words. I did not know Tarot Dame was doing a Lenormand, so I will check out her blog to see what she’s doing.
Keep in touch!
