I’ve put together a short audio post with my musing on the concept of a universe of meanings in each tarot card. This is in contrast with older methods of reading tarot, which I believe were closer to their playing card reading roots. These styles of tarot reading used a fix set of meanings for each card.

I believe this is one reason many people today also find decks like the Lenormand easier to get a straight answer out of; the cards are interpreted according to what they symbolize, and it doesn’t vary by whatever catches the reader’s eye.

Both styles have their strengths and weaknesses, and usefulness for different readers or situations.

What do you think?
