Although you are seeing this post on a Tuesday, it reflects a reading from Sunday. I’ve experienced and posted enough readings that reflect accurate results in terms of the situation, I think it’s also important to show the readings gone wrong.(Forget Girls Gone Wild videos, let’s get those crazy cards filmed as Readings Gone Wrong!)

I ordered something from amazon.com and was surprised to see an option for Sunday delivery. I thought I’d go ahead and order, and see how that worked. (It’s been rolled out in various cities, but I hadn’t seen it until now.) Although the delivery estimate was Sunday by 8m, when I didn’t receive my package in the early afternoon, I began to wonder if it would show up. Will my package arrive today? Time to consult the cards!

On Saturday I had the opportunity to do a quick predictive reading with same-day confirmation. I wondered whether my partner would work his on-call shift at his part-time job, so I whipped out my trusty Lo Scarabeo Tarot deck to ask that question. As usual, I focused on the question and let my mind calm while shuffling the cards until I felt they didn’t need to be shuffled anymore. I had decided on a three-card spread, and this was the result:

I’m attending a winery event this weekend, and was thinking about doing some readings there. It was popular when I did so the last time. However, part of me just wants to go, drink wine and enjoy myself. Without worrying about people unloading their problems, trying to find semi-privacy or — worst of all — watching that my cards don’t blow away in bursts of wind when sitting outdoors!

So I sought some advice from the cards. What do I need to know about reading at the winery this weekend? I chose the Dreampower Tarot.

In my previous post, I introduced El Gran Tarot de los Tattwas, along with a brief of the tattwa symbols as commonly understood in the West. In this post, I wish to share my first daily reading with this deck, which was done on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.

I used a variation of the daily spread which you’ve seen me post several times, if you read my blog. Except instead of going clockwise around an “X” shape, I laid the cards to go clockwise around a cross shape.

I’ve always had a fascination for the Indian tattwas (or sometimes tattvas). “Tattwa” is often translated as “thatness” and represents a certain quality of something. There are generally five tattwas which are related to the five elements of akasha (spirit), air, fire, water and earth. The tattwas made their way from India to the West via the Theosophical movement and the Victorian-era and UK-based magical group, The Golden Dawn.

The five tattwas and their symbols as related to Western use — including this tarot deck — are akasha (spirit; a purple egg or oval), vayu (air; a blue circle), tejas (fire; a red triangle), apas (water; a white or silver crescent) and prithivi (earth; a yellow square). It’s a bigger subject than I have time to write about now, but if you want to learn more, you could start at Wikipedia. If people are interested, I can share some references to works about tattwas at a later date.

At any rate, they are commonly used as symbols for improving meditation, concentration, visualization and even scrying ability for those who lean in that direction. Imagine my pleased surprise when one day I learned there were two tattwa-based tarot decks!

I recently shared a couple of readings regarding whether “Nick” would be offered a job for which he’d interviewed. I am now able to share the outcome of these readings.

In my previous post, I did a reading with my Dreampower deck to ask if “Nick” would be offered a job for which he’s interviewed. As I mentioned, I’m not fully conversant yet with the Dreampower so I opted to do a tarot reading as well. I used my Lo Scarabeo Tarot and asked the same question: Will Nick be offered the job?

Knight of Swords – Page of Swords – Chariot – 8 of Coins – 6 of Wands

This is my favorite yes-or-no spread, from Tarot Prediction & Divination by Susyn Blair-Hunt. The card values are used to determine a positive or negative answer, and then the meanings are read for more information. In this picture I’ve raised the affirmative cards. It is a “qualified yes.”

I did a couple of readings this week for a man I’ll call Nick. Nick wanted to know if he will be offered a job that he has recently interviewed for. I used my Dreampower tarot, which hasn’t gotten attention lately.

Nick has interviewed twice and is anxious, both for a response and to hopefully get this job. It entails a move to a new part of the organization he works for. Nick is a social worker who is burned out in his current job, which has earned him a physical attack and two death threats from clients this year.

A while ago I took a look at my shiny, then-new Law of Attraction Tarot deck.

I’m sure anyone who saw any news yesterday heard that Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI (driving under the influence of substances) and resisting arrest. I’ve depicted Bieber here (from his police mugshot) as the tarot’s Knight of Wands reversed, or ill-dignified.

Bieber-Kn-Wands-rx

He has the youth and impetuousness of the tarot’s young and not-quite-mature knights, who are ready to run off and defend a kingdom — or at least seek treasure and a hot princess in the surrounding domains. The knight is trying to grow up from being a page but isn’t yet able to run a kingdom. It will take a few quests, with both successes and failures, to temper the restless knight. I picked Wands because I think Bieber is displaying the rashness of fire that isn’t controlled or managed: he was racing cars in residential areas while allegedly under influence of various substances, without a care for consequences. He thought his celebrity status should give him special privileges, which were apparent in his rude comments to the arresting police officers.

Sadly, that is what I expect to happen: Justin will land on his feet due to his celebrity status. I think this sounds like another instance where a young, spoiled celebrity is going to get a slap on the wrist and be no worse for the wear. It occurred to me to see what the tarot has to say about this. I got my Albano-Waite tarot deck and asked: How will this incident affect Justin Bieber’s career?
